Hexagon Completes Acquisition of Alas Ingeniería, its Longtime Distributor of Solutions in Argentina, Bolivia and Uruguay19 February 2020
Strategic deal will help Hexagon PPM engage directly with key owner operators and EPCs in important industries in South America
Hexagon’s PPM division, the leading global provider of engineering software for the design, construction and operation of plants, ships and offshore facilities, has acquired Alas Ing S.A., a leading South American provider of software and services for information management in industrial plants, engineering and construction projects.
Alas Ingeniería has been the distributor of Hexagon solutions in Argentina, Uruguay and Bolivia since 2000. Based in Argentina, it has offered innovative solutions to the most decisive companies in the Southern Cone for more than two decades, with a focus on optimizing field measurements, designs and plant information management as a strategic asset.
The acquisition of Alas Ingeniería allows Hexagon PPM to directly support key owner operators and EPCs in important industries throughout South America (oil & gas, petrochemical, nuclear, etc.), streamlining information and business opportunities in the region while offering security to customers to continue their long-term investment in Hexagon solutions.
The deal consolidates Hexagon’s presence in South America, leveraging the use of regional resources to promote a unique synergy between the countries. Also, Argentina has several different types of production plants that, combined with an increasing demand for technology and innovation, creates opportunities aligned with Hexagon PPM’s strategy to expand its presence in Operations & Maintenance. Current management and employees are expected to remain with Alas Ingeniería.
“The acquisition of Alas, besides consolidating our presence at South America, will streamline the engagement between the customers and Hexagon PPM,” said Fabio Yada, Senior Vice President, Hexagon PPM South America. “Additionally, this will add very good professionals, strengthening our regional team, consequently increasing our capability and efficiency.”
Alas Ingeniería will be fully consolidated as of today. The acquisition has no significant impact on the results of Hexagon.
